HJC-Rider-Jorge-Lorenzo-Podium-Brno

After a disappointing race in Indianapolis last week, Jorge Lorenzo was exited to go to Brno for the 11th round of the Moto GP season. A few weeks before Brno, teammates Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi took their bikes and did testing on the same track.
HJC Rider Jorge Lorenzo and his RPHA 10 started the weekend on a great note. After the FP1, Lorenzo set the pace at 1’56.698. During the FP2, Lorenzo and his team decided to test out different configurations on the bike. Despite the new configurations Lorenzo was still able be to beat his first FP1 time with a time of 1’56.538. Throughout FP3 & FP4 Jorge Lorenzo was able to keep the pace of 1’56. Going into Q2 Lorenzo was looking great. However at the end of Q2, he finish 5th, with a time of 1’55.949. Behind .422 seconds of the pole setter Cal Crutchlow.

Following a disappointing Q2 time Lorenzo and his team were more determined to push to the front during the race. At the start of race, Lorenzo was able to weave around the front row riders and claim the lead before turn 1. The biggest lead he had was about a second and a half from both Honda riders (Marquez & Pedrosa). Half way through, the race director decided to wave the white flag, due to the possibility of rain. Although the possibility of rain was looming, it did not slow down the 3 race leaders (Lorenzo, Marquez, & Pedrosa).
As the race approached the last ten laps both Honda riders were able to cut Lorenzo’s lead to only .3 seconds. Finally, with only 7 laps to go Marquez made a move to take a lead. However Lorenzo was able to reclaim the lead just after two turns. But before the lap ended Marquez was able to take the lead once more. With 4 laps to go Lorenzo tried to make a move try to reclaim the lead once again, but Marquez was able to fight the strike from Lorenzo to maintain the lead. Similar to last week, Pedrosa was the sitting quietly at the third position for most of the race. With 3 laps to go, Pedrosa took the second spot from Lorenzo. Once Lorenzo lost the 2nd spot, both Honda riders were able to pull away and finish the race with a gap of 2.277 seconds.

After a hard fought race HJC rider Jorge Lorenzo stated: “ I tried to get into first position again and pull away to escape, making the best start in my career, achieving up to one second of advantage. But I would have needed one or two fractions of a second more to escape definitively and win the race. They were very competitive on the straights and braking and I was only able to keep up by leaning a lot. My tires got worn and I couldn’t do more”.
The next race will be next week September 1st, at the legendary Silverstone circuit in Great Britain, where Jorge Lorenzo won last year.
