2013 MotoGP R12, Silverstone, United Kingdom

After another third place finish last week at Brno HJC rider Jorge Lorenzo was looking forward for Silverstone GP, where he won last year.
HJC rider Jorge Lorenzo once again led all riders after FP4 with an incredible pace 2’02.049. Going into Q2 it looked like no one will be able to match Lorenzo’s pace. During Q2, HJC rider Jorge Lorenzo’s blistering time of 2’00.819 looked like he was going to win pole position for the first time since Jerez in early May. However with less than a minute to go, rookie Marc Marquez was able to beat Lorenzo’s time by .128 of a second.

Following Q2 HJC rider Jorge Lorenzo was quoted “I thought I had pole position, but when I saw the classification I again saw that Marc was in front of me, so I was a bit disappointed because I had done one of the best laps of my whole career.” Despite the disappointment Lorenzo’s sprit wasn’t shattered and stated, “Anyway, it is only qualifying, so second place is a good position and the important thing is tomorrow. It is going to be a long race, so let’s hope to have good pace to fight for victory.”

Lorenzo had another incredible start to take the lead from Marquez. HJC Rider Jorge Lorenzo led the majority of the race, until with less than 3 laps to go Marquez was able to take the led from Lorenzo. The led was reclaimed by HJC rider Lorenzo about half through the lap. Going into the last lap Lorenzo was in front of both Honda riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa. As the race ended on the last few turns Marquez was able to take the lead once again, but with one turn left in the race HJC rider Jorge Lorenzo was able to get the inside line to take the lead and win the race by .081 of a second.
After another hard fought race between the two Honda riders and HJC rider Jorge Lorenzo, Lorenzo was able to claim the top spot for the first time since mid June at Catalunya.

During post race interviews Lorenzo stated “This was one of the best races I’ve ever had, I’m really happy and really pleased. It’s a very important win. I pushed from the beginning to try and open a gap, even more than in recent races but it was impossible.” HJC rider also added “When he overtook me three corners from the end I thought it was over again and second place but then he opened a little gap in the last corner so I thought “now or never” and I tried and got it. To be honest I’m not thinking about the championship, I’m thinking just to enjoy this victory which was very special.”

The next race will be held in two weeks September 15th, at the Misano World Circuit in San Marino. Where, HJC rider Jorge Lorenzo will be looking for his third win in 4 years.
