Aaron Yates to Return to Michael Jordan Motor Sports Team in 2009
2008 AMA Superstock Champion Will Compete in Superbike Class
CHICAGO (January 8, 2009) - Michael Jordan Motor Sports is pleased to announce that 2008 AMA Superstock Champion Aaron Yates will return to the team in 2009. Yates will pilot an entry in the 2009 AMA Pro Racing American Superbike Championship series.
Yates, a five-time AMA champion, has won titles in the 1000 cc Superstock, 600 cc Supersport, 750 cc Supersport and SuperTeams classes. The Georgia native has also earned 43 AMA National victories, four wins in AMA SuperTwins (Harley-Davidson 883) class and four wins in AMA Super-Teams Endurance competition. Yates, who clinched the 2008 AMA Superstock Championship at Road Atlanta one round before the Laguna Seca finale, earned his 18th Superstock win, surpassing former Jordan Suzuki rider Jason Pridmore as the second winningest rider in class history. Yates won five of 11 rounds, with ten podium finishes in Superstock racing action during the 2008 race season.
"Aaron's performance over the past two years made the decision to bring him back an easy one," said Kreig Robinson, Michael Jordan Motor Sports Director of Business Development. "He has a never-say-die attitude and he finds ways to win. We have an extremely talented crew and staff, but at the end of the day, a rider has to ride the bike."
Yates lives in Milledgeville, GA with his wife, Heather, and their children, Ashton and Skyla Maria.
